1899 Ulysses S. Grant Memorial G.A.R. Philadelphia Pinback & Antique Ribbon The pinback appears to read, U.S. Grant Camp, 5 S of V, G.A.R., Encampment, Phila, '99.On the reverse side, it reads Whitehead & Hoag, with both 1894 and 1896.Pinback measures approximately just under 7/8".The Ribbon is severely deteriorated and damaged from age and storage. It appears to read, Gen'l U.S. Grant, Post G.A.R., Philadelphia, Grant Memorial. The year at the bottom is unreadable.Previous owner placed a piece of tape along the back side of the ribbon in attempt to keep it together. It is falling apart and great care is needed to maintain this piece of history. There is tearing, loose threads, fading, discoloration, and heavy overall deterioration.Ribbon measures approximately 2 3/8" x 5 3/4".Aside from the previously mentioned condition, both items have discoloration, marks, rust to the metal, and the typical wear from age and storage.Please see photos for more information on condition and ask any questions you may have.
