1905 Teddy Roosevelt Russian Czar Japanese Emperor Rotograph Real Photo Postcard
President Theodore Roosevelt involved himself with helping to negotiate the peace treaty of the war between the Empire of Japan and Czarist Russia that had occurred during 1904 and 1905. Here's a wonderfully designed, standard size postcard with rotograph images of various participants in those treaty negotiations held at Portsmouth, New Hampshire. TR didn't attend the actual negotiations, instead hanging out on the presidential yacht, The Mayflower, for consultations. At bottom left is printed "Copyright 1905 by the Rotograph Co., N.Y." and at bottom right is "Delineated by Gustave Fuchs, N.Y." In between this mentions the ship, the dates and a TR quote. For some reason, the French were fascinated by TR's involvement in this war, and there are a myriad of cartoon postcards produced in France during this period with creative TR caricatures on them, along with the Czar and Emperor. We have many of them for sale in our eBay store because we think the artwork on them is simply wonderful. TR won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1906 because of his efforts to end this conflict, the first American, let alone U.S. President, to garner such an accolade. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why he is on Mount Rushmore, while Nobel recipients Wilson, Carter and Obama aren't. This is in nice condition but please look at our images to judge condition for yourself so you can be happy with your purchase. We are members of APIC and sell only authentic presidential (and other collectible) material so buy with confidence. We'll be happy to combine S & H costs on multiple purchases even though eBay claims we don't. We just issue a refund for any overpayment. Shipping on this will be $5.50, sent carefully packed, first class with tracking. 6958
