RARE PRESIDENT RUTHERFORD B. HAYES / EVARTS SIGNED CONSUL TO VENEZUELA - 1880
Being offered is a unique rare and original document signed by the 19th President of the United States, Rutherford B. Hayes and his Secretary of State, William Evarts. This document assigns a certain James Siler as the U.S. Consul to Venezuela, a predecessor of what we would now term Ambassador. This historic piece is in VG+ condition overall. It has been folded in numerous places as most documents of this nature have been, with a few pinhole tears in a few places along these fold lines. The printed portion shows only light fading, with the text all being visible and legible. The handwritten parts are all strong and legible, including the signatures of Hayes and Evarts. This document comes professionally matted and framed. The finished piece measures approximately 27" x 18" with the wood frame showing a few light marks and dents. A rare and beautiful historic Presidential piece of memorabilia up for grabs. Thanks for looking!
