This is a very scarce complete and original Press Kit from the Texas Welcome Dinner originally scheduled to be held in Austin Texas on the date that turned out to the day that President Kennedy was assassinated and the event was canceled. This is the complete press kit including the presentation folder with the Great Seal of the United States on the cover along with all fifteen press releases distributed to members of the press in advance of the event. The press releases outline the schedule of events for the day, background information, releases describing the number of tickets sold to the event, list of welcoming committee members etc. One particularly prophetic and haunting release starts out with the words " When Mrs. John Kennedy visits the Texas White Hosue with her husband Friday afternoon a new bit of Texas history may well be written".
