JOHN F. KENNEDY ASSASSINATION. Original November 25, 1963 teletype providing the first announcement to the public on the existence of the Zapruder film. Contains one page, measures 8.5 by 5 inches, and in near pristine condition with only rough edges to the top and bottom. ORIGINAL NOVEMBER 25, 1963 TELETYPE PROVIDING THE FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT TO THE PUBLIC ON THE EXISTENCE OF THE ZAPRUDER FILM: “UNITED PRESS NEWSFILM HAS MOTION PICTURES OF THE ACTUAL MOMENT WHEN PRESIDENT KENNEDY WAS HIT BY THE ASSASSIN’S BULLET.” Reads in full: “(Television) Attn: TV Newsfilm Clients: United Press Newsfilm has motion pictures of the actual moment when President Kennedy was hit by the assassin’s bullet. This film is now in our New York laboratory for printing and will be serviced to all United Press International Newsfilm clients as soon as possible. The film is blown up from eight millimeter color film made by an amateur. It has been given special slow motion effects to slow and freeze the historic moment. The film runs one minute 36 seconds. The slow motion sequences are repeated several times and special effect cameras were utilized in the processing to enlarge the frames that show the President slumping in the rear seat after being hit and his wife placing her arms about him.
