FINE PAIR 1863 J C Bufford's Sons lithos George & Martha Washington
Rare to find this fine set available together. From the paintings by Gilbert Stuart in the Boston Athenaeum, come this set of George and Martha Washington lithographs created in 1863 by J H Bufford's Sons out of Boston Mass. Based on notations I discovered in opening one piece for photographing, these were reframed in their present oval setting in 1935 by the inheriting daughter Mary Florence Meyers. She hand wrote the details and history of the pieces as shown on the backing paper. They were owned by her mother Sarah Frances Morgan since 1880. Bufford's Sons did fine lithograph engraving work and focused on many great historical figures throughout the 19th century. I realize presidential collectable vary greatly in desirability and availability. All I can do is put them out there at what seems to be an attractive market based price and use my standard "Best Offer" format which has served well based on my impeccable feedback. Hope these two find a great new home. I have enjoyed owning and displaying them for a long time. The lithographs measure 14" x 17". You are welcome to purchase the art works and provenance marked mattings alone without framing or glass to reduce shipping and packaging.
