Eulogy Memory of John F. Kennedy Souvenir Pamphlet 1963 Cardinal Cushing
While clearing out my childhood home in Altoona, PA for sale after the death of my final parent in May 2006, I came upon this original Souvenir Pamphlet on the Eulogy Memory of John F. Kennedy by Cardinal Richard Cushing on 24 November 1963 that was in a brown paper envelope within old hat box with other family papers. I brought back this hat box to our home in Manassas, VA and retained it for over 15 plus years. Upon relocating from Manassas, to Fort Myers, FL the contents of this hat box were repacked into a sealed plastic container and moved with our other personal belongings. I retained this container for over 15 plus years; however, the condominium we purchased in Fort Myers does not have the adequate closet or storage space to indefinitely retain these old family mementos. Subsequently, I have decided to post these remembrances and keepsakes for sale on eBay. The next item for sale is this Souvenir Pamphlet on the Eulogy Memory of John F. Kennedy by Cardinal Richard Cushing on 24 November 1963. The front view of this tri-fold pamphlet contains the following purple text: “EULOGY In memory of the late JOHN F. KENNEDY President of the United States of America” along the top of the pamphlet”. Below this purple text is a sketch of President Kennedy. The bottom of this pamphlet contains the following purple text: “by his EMINENCE RICHARD CARDINAL CUSHING Archbishop of Boston on the occasion of A REQUIEM MASS celebrated Sunday, November 24, 1963, and originating at the Television Studio of the Archdiocese of Boston” as shown in the first attached high resolution photograph. The folded pamphlet as shown, measures four (4) inches wide by nine (9) inches high. Note: There are some minor marks and a few creases and “dog ears” along the bottom of the pamphlet. The rear view of this tri-fold pamphlet contains the conclusion of the eulogy in the following purple text: “symbol for love of god, country and all mankind, the foundation upon which a new world must be built if our civilization is to survive. as for myself, I have lost my dearest and nearest friend. History will never record how close we were in life. I assure his loved ones that I will never forget him and them whenever I pray at an alter or elsewhere”. A short solid purple line which measures approximately one inch. Below this line is the following purple text: “Additional copies may be had by writing to: His Eminence Cardinal Richard Cushing, 2101 Commonwealth Ave, Brighton 35, Mass.”. The bottom of the page contains the name of the pamphlet’s printing press in the following purple text: “SULLIVAN BROS., PRINTERS, LOWELL” as shown in the second attached high resolution photograph. Note: There are some minor marks along the top of the pamphlet and a few creases and “dog ears” along the bottom of the pamphlet. The fully opened tri-fold pamphlet from the inside is shown in the third attached high resolution photograph. This exhibits pages 2, 3 and 4. This fully opened tri-fold measures twelve (12) inches wide by nine (9) inches high. Note: There a few creases and “dog ears” along the bottom of the pamphlet. The fully opened tri-fold pamphlet from the outside is shown in the fourth attached high resolution photograph. This exhibits the previous front and rear covers and page 5. Note: There are some minor marks along the top of the pamphlet and a few creases and “dog ears” along the bottom of the pamphlet.
