These were popular around the turn of the century for the first first quarter century of the 20th century. These seem to be very popular. For some reason it might have been a nostalgia thing if you think about it. People getting elderly in America in the 1910 to 1930 would have had a nostalgia about the America of the 1860s and '70s that they remembered from their youth. That's at least my theory as to why these became so popular around the turn of the last century
