Amazing & Historical Photograph!Lincoln was shot in this box on April 14, 1865. Notice the President’s rocking chair was placed the far left against the wall. This was positioned in such a way that the left side of his face would have been visible to some in the audience. Mrs. Lincoln sat in the carved-back cane-seat chair next to the president’s rocker. Miss Clara Harris (fiancée to Major Rathbone) sat in the armchair closest to the stage. Major Rathbone sat on the velvet-covered sofa next to but behind Miss Harris and toward the rear of Box 8.
