2-Different 1904 Roosevelt Fairbanks Jugate Stereo Cards Taken at Sagmore Hill
Back in the old days, when political conventions weren't a foregone conclusion, the top of the ticket was mostly a sure bet but vice-president nominees often got chosen for political geography and expediency. So someone might get put on the ticket with the top banana having never even met them before. After the notification ceremonies took place in the candidate's home towns the VP would then make a pilgrimage to the home of the top guy to introduce themselves. They got to meet, pose for a lot of photos, talk to the press and maybe even get down to planning some election strategy. And that's what's happening here on these two stereopticon view cards, when the 1904 republican VP nominee, Indiana U.S. Senator Charles Fairbanks, sat in a chair on the lawn of president Theodore Roosevelt's home (known as Sagamore Hill) in Oyster Bay, New York, on Long Island. We have over a half-dozen of these, each with a slightly different image, some of which you really have to strain to see the variances between them. Here are two which are easy to note that the poses aren't the same, so perhaps you can add them to your collection. It may be one of the few times that you can acquire a TR-Fairbanks jugate ANYTHING for less than twenty-five bucks. They are in nice condition but please enlarge our images to judge this for yourself so you can be happy with your purchase. We are members of APIC and sell only authentic presidential (and other collectible) material so buy with confidence. We'll be happy to combine S & H costs on multiple purchases. Shipping on this will be $5.50 carefully packed-first class with tracking.
