1968-72 RICHARD NIXON set of 7 campaign buttons Women for Nixon AGNEW.
This is a set of six political buttons for Richard Nixon’s presidential campaigns; I’m not able to determine which campaign for five of them, the blue/red one is for 1972. Richard Nixon was president from 1969 to 1974, when he was impeached. His VP was Spiro Agnew. The first button (in the picture, from top to bottom and left to right) has the words “I’m for NIXON” in blue letters on a white background, with a red and blue banner at top and bottom. It measures approx. 7/8” in diameter and is in near fine condition; the front has some wear, the back has no rust. It does have the Union ‘bug’. The second button has the word “Nixon” in red letters on a black background, circled with white. It measures approx. 1” in diameter and is in very good condition; the front has some wear and a small dent, the back has no rust. The edge is imprinted with the printer’s name and address and the words “Official Nixon Button”. It does have the Union ‘bug’. The third button has the words “NIXON AGNEW” in red letters on a black background. It measures approx. 1.5” in diameter and is in near fine condition, the front has a tiny paint chip, no rust on back. The fourth button has the words “Nixon Agnew” in red letters on a black background, circled with white. It measures approx. 1” in diameter and is in fine condition; the front is glossy, no marks and no rust on back. It does have the Union ‘bug’. The fifth button has the words “Nixon Agnew” in white letters against a blue background on the top half, and a red background on the bottom half. It measures approx. 1.25” in diameter and is in good condition; the front shows some scrapes, no rust on back. This button has the words “Fin. Comm. To Re-Elect the President…” along the edge; proving this button dates to 1972. It does have the Union ‘bug’. The sixth button has the words “Women for Nixon Agnew” in red letters on a white background with a stylized N in red and blue above. It measures approx. 1.5” in diameter and is in fine condition; the front shows little wear, no rust on back. It does have the Union ‘bug’. The seventh button has the words “Pat for First Lady”, referring to Pat Nixon, his wife. It measures approx. 1” in diameter and is in near fine condition; the front has slight scratches, the back has no rust. It does have the Union ‘bug’.
