1923 WG Harding Chi Milwaukee St Paul Electric Locom Stereo Card Trip He Died On
This is one of the many Harding stereo cards we have for sale in our eBay store. In 1923, President Warren G. Harding started to feel the heat in Washington, D.C., politically over the scandalous Teapot Dome corruption issues as well as by the mean temperature. So, he and his wife and various cabinet members planned an extensive trip to take his and the press's minds off these problems. A set of stereo view cards was the result which have become quite desirable among collectors since it shows so many interesting snapshots of people, cultures, the different geographical places and diverse things he experienced. The party headed out west across the Great Plains then clear up into Alaska where he was the first President to visit, and back down through Washington and Oregon, with the trip being cut short there, because of his deteriorating condition. They cancelled several events and went straight on to San Francisco where Harding died on August 2 at a hotel, shocking the nation. This Keystone View Company card shows the president in the cab of a Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Electric Railway locomotive at Falcon, Idaho. This was towards the beginning of the trip when he was feeling fairly good. It is in nice condition but please look our images to judge this for yourself so you can be happy with your purchase. Period, railroad items are hot right now so more than political collectors may go after this. We are members of APIC and sell only authentic presidential (and other collectible) material so buy with confidence. We'll be happy to combine S & H costs on multiple purchases. Shipping on this will be $6.50 carefully packed-first class with tracking in a box. 7355
