1905 Stereo Card Prez Roosevelt on White Horse With Rifle on Colorado Bear Hunt
There wasn't any president before Theodore Roosevelt who did more for conservation in this country than he did. But he also enjoyed hunting, in this country as well as in Africa. A complex individual, huh? Most people know about his encounter with a bear cub and the positive reporting of that event which lead to the worldwide popularity of the Teddy Bear. Yet, he was a serious bear hunter and wrote several books about hunting out west. Here we see the president on a horse with his rifle in Colorado heading out from Newcastle pictured on a 1905 stereo view card made by Underwood and Underwood and the Littleton View Company. We're also listing another image from this trip with the men and dogs who went with him on that hunt.
