1896/1897 McKinley Inaugural Medal. RARE BU gold plated US political token/ingot
Here is an authentic and rare U.S. President William McKinley Inaugural Medal for sale. This dual-dated piece is a privately struck issue. It is in attractive and lustrous Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Examples of this rare variety are highly prized by collectors of U.S. political medals and tokens. This small medal has a President McKinley portrait obverse and a Date of Inauguration reverse. It carries the dates of 1896 and of March 4, 1897. This piece is one of the very few examples that we have seen. We believe it to be quite rare, especially in such a high grade of preservation. This token is smaller than a dime and has a diameter of about 13.5mm. It weighs 1.37 grams. It looks to be made of copper or bronze metal which has been expertly plated in yellow gold. In any case, there is just a wee bit of gold in this tiny treasure! This medal is in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. This impressive piece has superb color with luster.
