1869 Complete Harpers Mag Ohio Gov R B Hayes on Cover Gr8 anti-Democrat Cntr Art
Here is a complete issue of the November 6, 1869, Harper's Weekly periodical, showing the newly elected Governor of Ohio, Rutherford B. Hayes on its cover. This is about the first time Hayes appeared in any nationally released magazine, and his early career material, before his presidency, is highly sought after among political and locals' collectors. This also contains a wonderfully mocking woodcut engraving cartoon about the Democrat Party and its anti-black, racist tendencies in the two-page centerfold. That wasn't even rendered by the greatest of all democrat mockers, Thomas Nast, but another great Harper's contributor, Alfred R. Waud, who did many of this magazines Civil War battlefield engravings during the war. We've intentionally kept all this less in focus because it was back when the "N" word was used. This is in nice condition but please look at our images to judge condition for yourself so you can be happy with your purchase. We are members of APIC and sell only authentic presidential (and other collectible) material so buy with confidence. We'll be happy to combine S & H costs on multiple purchases even though eBay says we don't. We just issue a refund for any overpayment. Shipping on this will be $8.50 first class with tracking between lots of stiff cardboard to protect it. 8318
