President William H. Harrison, Ninth President, Inauguration Token
I have for sale a Presidential token for President William Henry Harrison, of the Whig party, who was our 9th president. In the 1840 Presidential election he defeated incumbent President Martin Van Buren. The token is brass, it is 15/16 inch in diameter, encapsulated in NGC holder and graded cleaned with AU details by them, but it does have a hole at the top rim. The token obverse shows the military bust of Harrison in the center and around the rim it reads MAJ: GENL W.H. HARRISON - BORN FEB. 9, 1773. The reverse shows a cabin in the center, & around the cabin it reads THE PEOPLES CHOICE - IN THE YEAR - 1840. This token is listed in the Dewitt catalog as 1840-52.
