William Homer Thornberry (January 9, 1909 – December 12, 1995) served as the United States representative from the 10th congressional district of Texas from 1949 until 1963. From 1963 until 1965 he was a judge for the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas, and he was a judge for the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit from 1965 until 1978. Thornberry was riding in the fateful motorcade in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963 when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald.
