Sept. 19, 1881 President JAMES A. GARFIELD Mourning Broadside
Here is an original mourning broadside for President James A. Garfield dated September 19, 1881. It is printed on paper that measures approx. 8 1/4" by 10 1/8" and features an engraved likeness of the assassinated president. Printed at the N.E. Mfrs' and Mechs' Institute Fair, Boston which info appears long the bottom edge. Condition-wise it's in overall good shape with its bottom left corner having some material loss and a bent upper right corner as well as a bit of toning seen on its upper right quadrant. There are also some tiny edge tears along its borders. Blank reverse side. Despite these shortcomings, this will look marvelous when framed which I'll leave up to you. Thanks for looking at this auction.
