Antique US President James A. Garfield 1882 Memorial Address, RARE 1st Edition
The official James A. Garfield Memorial Address was delivered by Secretary of State James G. Blaine on February 27, 1882, in the Hall of the House of Representatives. It remains a towering piece of 19th-century American oratory and traces Garfield’s humble beginnings up to becoming President for 200 days before he was assassinated. The gilt title on the cover is still sharp although as you can see the cover shows signs of age and fading. The spine is strong but one page has separated from it as shown. This is an important American document and quite rare. It would be a great addition to the library of anyone interested in pre-1900 Presidential history.
