SCARCE UNITED STATES PRESIDENT ABRAHAM LINCOLN, EARLY 20TH CENTURY AMERICAN ANTIQUE, SMALL SEPIA TONED, OAK FRAMED LITHOGRAPH PRINT, offered by GIUSTI BAKING COMPANY, NEW BEDFORD, MASSACHUSETTS ADVERTISING Signed in cursive script on the print plate: 'Compliments of Giusti Baking Company New Bedford, Massachusetts'Early 20th century American antique, framed lithographed print promotional advertisements of US presidents DIMENSIONS: Frame: 11" Height x 9" Width Print under matting:9 1⁄2" Height x 7 5⁄8" Width Weight: 14.5 oz. DESCRIPTION:Recently discovered in a finely appointed North Shore, Massachusetts estate, along with several other Abraham Lincoln historical prints and other United States' Presidential memorabilia, is this wonderful, early 20th century, dark stained, oak framed, sepia-toned lithographic print, used as an advertising promotion by the Giusti Baking Company of New Bedford, Massachusetts. The unusual print is a seldom seen image of the former United States President, with Lincoln in his characteristic Victorian gentleman's attire, with soft black bow-tie, tied loosely around his neck inside of a white, soft collared shirt, with a black wool jacket. He has his hallmark period beard, with clean-shaven upper lip, as well as the top of his chin and sides of his gaunt, sunken face, no doubt influenced by the travails of the US Civil War and his strenuous schedule. Although showing his age, this was perhaps an artist's image of Lincoln when he was just starting his term in office, since he's looking more youthful than in other images, in which the long US Civil War took a measurable toll on his overall health, before he was assassinated by the Confederate sympathizer and actor John Wilkes Booth at Ford Theater in the nation's capital in 1865. Offered by the Giusti Baking Company to patrons between 1900 and 1920. The print is under glass and still in its original Arts and Crafts antique dark stained oak wooden picture frame. Very scarce. Handsome. CONDITION:Good to Very Good overall antique condition.
