Scarce 1896 McKinley toby jug / pitcher attributed to the Edwin Bennet pottery of Baltimore. Scarce 8.5" tall figural pottery pitcher depicting McKinley as he sits on a throne holding a stack of money and a copy of the "McKinley Bill." probably referring to the Gold Standard Act he advocated. Script on the base includes "Hon. William McKinley & quotes the McKinley campaign's familiar slogan "Protection and Prosperity" with the date 1896 at the back. Decorated with colors and gilt added to the coins flowing from the cornucopia below his chair on the sides. Condition: In overall excellent condition with a small chip on the edge of the McKinley bill & 2 small glaze chips to the handle and a few other scattered minor small chips, some on the top edge.
