>Offered here is an old and original 1929-33 Oregon Journal newspaper box cardboard sign, featuring President CALVIN COOLIDGE!! Please see all four photos, as they are an important part of my description. This salmon-colored vintage sign measures approximately 14" x 11". I believe this cardboard sign was utilized in an Oregon Journal (Portland, Oregon) newspaper street box back in the day, to promote the Journal's upcoming feature of "Calvin Coolidge's Own Story of the Presidency". The signage also mentions another news feature promotion about "How the American Legion is Carrying on the Battle of Humanity....the story of Oregon's Own Legionnaires!". As you can see, the Oregon Journal Sunday price for their newspaper was 5-cents. The final year of the Calvin Coolidge presidency was in March, 1929; he died four years later in 1933....so I am fairly certain the offered sign dates to the 1929-1933 time frame as Coolidge reminisces about "his own story of the Presidency". <>History: Calvin Coolidge was the 30th President of the United States. Coolidge was born in Vermont, and was a Republican. As a lawyer, he climbed the ladder of Massachusetts state politics, becoming the the state's 48th Governor. Coolidge was regarded as a "small government conservative". He served as vice-president under Warren Harding. After the sudden death of Harding, Coolidge became president and then elected in his own right in 1924. His nickname was "Silent Cal". Though his widespread popularity enabled him to run for a third term, he chose not to run again in 1928, remarking that ten years as president was (at the time) "longer than any other man has had it -- too long!". <>Condition: the sign is in *Fine Shape* overall considering its age, exhibiting only light-moderate age/handing faults: there is some light creasing present, along with a heavier diagonal crease in the sign's lower/right corner. Age toning is present along the edges, with a more pronounced area in the upper/left corner. The sign's physical integrity remains strong, and as you can see, it simply displays super!! Please check my eBay feedback and Bid With Confidence - I have Happy Customers with over 6,000 items sold! >Please Read BEFORE Bidding (you may be at a disadvantage if you don't): >Will ship via USPS *Priority Mail* for $11.99, which includes tracking. >>Sorry: NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING.
