Other: Unusual period Abraham Lincoln memorial view with ghost or skeleton leaves. Loran W. Schellhous had a long career in the photography field. She is listed in the Michigan State Gazetteer, Business Directory, 1863-1864 as a daguerreotypist, a jeweler and the town clerk. In Humphrey’s Journal of Photography, and the Allied Arts & Sciences (April 1, 1866, No. 23, Vol. XVII) there is correspondence from Coldwater, Michigan printed from her inquiring about the use of the Cutting Patent and the availability of the new Bromide Process. Business directories have her listed in various confirmed Michigan locations including St. Joseph County (1859), Colon (1863-64), Coldwater (1866), Kent County (1879), Ada Village (1880), and Grand Rapids (1889-1898). There is one reference to Cooperstown, Michigan but not dates. She was surely an accomplished photographer based on the small number of images that have surface to date. Send questions.
