Back in the day, before TV, these stereo cards were released during presidential campaigns and afterward, in order to give the public pictures of the candidates that ran and then who won after the election. Here is one of the first images of the new president, Theodore Roosevelt. He had been elected with William McKinley in 1900, but the president died from his wounds after being shot at the World's Fair in Buffalo, New York in September 1901. TR was out hiking in the Adirondack Mountains when a runner found him on a trail with a telegram containing the news and ordering him to Buffalo. He arrived in time and, when McKinley died in the President of the Expo's home, John Milburn, TR was sworn-in next door in the Ashley Wilcox house. So, this 1901-dated card noting him as "President" had to have been produced between September 14 and the end of the year, likely making it the first nationally released image of the youngest person ever to become president. Much history with this. Too bad they obviously don't teach it to the kids anymore since they want to erase it all. They're even removed TR's statue in front of the museum his own father had helped create! Just wait, these Marxists will be after Mount Rushmore, next. This in nice condition but please enlarge our images to judge condition for yourself so you can be happy with your purchase. We're listing a similar item, but the cardstock mounting is dark colored. S & H on it will be $6.50, first class with tracking. We are members of APIC and sell only authentic presidential (and other collectible) material so buy with confidence, and we'll be happy to combine S & H costs on multiple purchases even though eBay says we won't. We just issue a refund for any overpayment. 8080
