Contains one page, measures 8.5 and 6 inches, and in very fine condition with rough edges to the top and bottom. ORIGINAL NOVEMBER 22, 1963 TELETYPE ANNOUNCING NIKITA KHRUSHCHEV’S REACTION TO THE ASSASSINATION OF PRESIDENT JOHN F. KENNEDY: “SOVIET PREMIER KHRUSHCHEV WAS REPORTED HEADING BACK TO MOSCOW TONIGHT AFTER BEING INFORMED OF PRESIDENT KENNEDY’S ASSASSINATION.” Reads in full: “UPR175 (Russia) (Moscow)---Soviet Premier Khrushchev was reported heading back to Moscow tonight after being informed of President Kennedy’s assassination. Khrushchev was in Kiev (Kee-Ehf) Wednesday to meet with the Danish Foreign Minister. All Soviet news media have reported Mr. Kennedy’s Death. On Moscow radio, a bulletin of the President’s assassination was read twice and then solemn funeral music was played---an unprecedented tribute of mourning to Mr. Kennedy. The official Tass News Agency reported the tragedy and claimed the President had been murdered by what were termed ‘extreme right wing elements.’ U-S Ambassador Foy Kohler told newsmen: ‘I’m devastated, I don’t know what to think.’ Soviet Ambassador Andrei Gromyko phoned Kohler to express sympathy.
