Antique Staffordshire Pottery Abe Lincoln Centennial Pitcher Cauldon England
This is an Antique and Rare Staffordshire Pottery Abraham Lincoln Centennial Ironstone Pitcher, Cauldon Limited, England. This Pitcher was created in 1910 by Staffordshire Pottery of England to commemorate Lincoln's Centennial, (Lincoln was born in 1809). Many items were produced to commemorate Lincoln's Centennial and this pitcher was one of the more expensive items. One identical pitcher is on display in the Chicago History Museum under "Lincoln Centennial Commemorations". This Pitcher has a portrait of Abraham Lincoln on both side along with the quote, "With Malice towards none, with Charity for all". This pitcher is in near perfect condition with no cracks or chips. The only thing to mention is a spider web under the finish, shown in the last picture. The bottom has a crackle finish and most likely the pitcher was made with this "Crackle web" on the bottom. The bottom is marked "Cauldon, England" and has a "S" most likely for Staffordshire. The Pitcher is 7" tall. The base has a diameter of about 6". The Pitcher weighs 1 LB 4 OZ. Most of the items I sell are estate finds, and are presented to you in, as is, as found condition. They are described to the best of my knowledge. Some wear is to be expected, unless described as flawless or mint. I can't know everything about every item I offer, I do inspect each item and list all known flaws or damage. So please take a good look at the photos and ask questions if need be. Thanks for looking! #AA8/8
