RARE COBALT BLUE GLASS CLEVENGER BOTTLE, FORD/DOLE 1976 RNC, Kansas City, MO
Hi Collectors. This is a unique item. I've only been able to find ONE other similar, in a museum, even though it's only 45 years old. But, what I learned by finding the one other bottle is that they were probably personalized for every delegate, or some special ones?, at the convention. The bottle the Museum of American Glass in West Virginia has was personalized for "Clarence E. Neff". The one I'm offering to you was made for "R.J. Vander Platt". I wasn't able to learn more about who Mr Vander Platt was, but chances are if you're looking at this, you probably know. This bottle is about 7 1/2" tall. It is a beautiful cobalt blue glass. Side 1 has stars pointing upward in a triangular pattern. Below that it says, "Gerald Rudolph Ford". Embossed in high relief are the faces of Gerald Ford and Robert Dole. Underneath is "Robert Joseph Dole". Side 2 of the bottle has the stars pointing upward again toward the neck. Arched toward the top of the rounded area is "REPUBLICAN NATIONAL CONVENTION". Under that is a lovely elephant. Below that is "1976 DELEGATE". Below that is "R. J. VANDER PLATT". Below that is "AUGUST 16 - 19 ~ 1976". Below that is "KEMPER ARENA". Below that rounded down is "KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI". The bottom of the bottle says, "CLEVENGER BROS. GLASS WKS. CLAYTON, N.J." I usually ship within a day of receiving payment. I expect to be paid within 2 days of auction's close. If no payment by day 3 ebay will open an unpaid item case. Thanks for looking. SH-1338
