1880-90s Mrs. President Grover Cleveland Sulphur Bitters Advertising Trade Card
"MRS. PRESIDENT CLEVELAND" ORIGINAL ADVERTISING TRADE CARD - 1880s - 1890s A.P. Ordway & Co., Boston MA. 4-1/8" x 6-3/8". Duotone litho on cardboard (lithographry by J. Ottmann Litho, Puck Bldg., NY). We are offering an original two-sided advertising trade card. Front side has an illustrated portrait of the First Lady of the United States (at the time), Mrs. Grover Cleveland, & states - "Use Sulphur Bitters". Back side advertises the medical publication "Disease, its Causes, and Home Cures" by Dr. Kaufmann for 3 two-cent stamps. Frances Cleveland was First Lady of the United States from 1886 to 1889 and again from 1893 to 1897 as the wife of President Grover Cleveland. Becoming first lady at age 21, she remains the youngest wife of a sitting president. THIS IS AN ORIGINAL LATE-VICTORIAN ERA TRADE CARD AND NOT A REPRODUCTION. A scarce early piece of PRESIDENTIAL ADVERTISING with outstanding eye appeal. Condition is considered GOOD with mild surface/stain/edge wear. Moderate surface/corner creasing with no tears, chips or separations. Imagery is still bold and eye catching. Overall, we feel this item is in very displayable condition by most standards (see photos).
