Nice evenly toned original 1834 hard times token in good condition. When Andrew Jackson was elected president in 1828, he brought the promise to reform government with him, and high on his list was the corrupt and monstrous Bank of the United States. His position was that Congress did not have the Constitutional authority to create it. The defeat of Daniel Webster and WH Harrison prompted the two factions to form together protesting Jacksonian Economics that played forward into the Van Buren administration. Eventually, the hard luck times of the 1820s to 1830s ended and the Democrats under the new leadership of Martin Van Buren credited the great experiment as a win.
