1981 Inauguration of President Ronald Reagan Two Inaugural License Plates January 20, 1981 For sale are two 1981 Presidential Inaugural license plates from the first Inauguration of President Ronald Reagan. They are standard metal license plates and they are the official variety distributed by the Presidential Inaugural Committee. The license plates read, "835," and measure approximately 12 x 6 inches. These would fit on a standard automobile. At that time, you could legally drive with them for a certain period of time. They were stored in original packaging on top of each other which is why the white on each is a different coloring. Please see photos for more details.
