Circa 1850 George Washington Pin / Token, G.W. Portrait, & "Merry Twelve" Around
Unusual Circa 1850 George Washington "Merry Twelve" G.W. Portrait Pin, With A Raised Bust Of George Washington, And The Workmanship Of The Pin Appears To Be Hand Made By A Skilled Jeweler. I have had the pin for many years and have never been able to determine what The "Merry Twelve" was. One astute collector suggested that it might be related to the "Merry Twelve Days Of Christmas". It looks like it may be silver, but more likely it's a nickel composition. The size is approximately 22 mm by 20 mm, and it is in excellent condition, with no visible damage. It is an interesting pin, I wish I knew more about it and would appreciate any comments about it.
